Guitar - Whoops
I apparently tuned my guitar wrong. For the most part the difference between two adjacent strings is a fourth, but the difference between the 2nd and 3rd strings is only a major third. I've tuned my roommate's righty-strung guitar, and was so used to that process that when I got my own guitar and strung it for left-handed playing, I forgot to reverse the plan. So to correct this, I just had to raise the middle two strings a half-step. Chords sound much better now. However, I don't play chords; I play single notes. So I now have to relearn how to play those 2 dozen or so songs I've figured out over the last month.

EtA: I'll make a new list of songs I've figured out, but I will add them only once I've written them down.

The thing is, you can tune a guitar several different ways, within the limits of appropriate string tension. So, if you like it the other way and can do the fingering for it, there's no reason you can't keep it that way as long as you remember what tuning you are in.

Well, yeah, but I want to be able to play chords and it's just faster and easier to get it straight from a book without having to translate. Besides, I think it'll work out okay. It also allows my friend who's really good to teach me stuff.

*l* Chords are all I've had the patience to teach myself to play....perhaps we can play a sort of long-distance duet. I don't think I know how to play any of the songs you're working on, which would make our collaboration all the more interesting. :P

Right now, I don't know how to play any of the songs I'm working on. I would love a duet. We could sing together too.

By the way, I heard of a book you might want to look at: Things I Learned From Knitting (Whether I Wanted To or Not) by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee.

Stephanie Pearl-McPhee is awesome! She has a whole handful of books, some of which I've read. And her nom de blog is Yarn Harlot, which is awesome in and of itself.
